I was informed that a 5th grade classroom in Orange County is using Jetta's book as a reader. I'm so happy! That was one of my goals: to have children enjoy the book. Another woman in Idaho is using the book for home-schooling. The other day I was walking with the dogs and I saw a ten-year old boy who goes to school in Cayucos who enjoyed Bud's hamming it up at our assembly there. And he said that he's looking for the book. I told him it's in the school library. He said: "I could buy a book of my own", so I told him to ask his mom, and that any time he wanted to read the book for free, he could come by my house, but to let him mom know, of course. That made my day!

Last week Jetta was acting more tired than normal and I noticed a lump forming on her side. I notice this kind of thing because of her having two Mast Cell cancers in the past, that I caught in time to save her from having a cancer metastasize. The vet took three tissue samples to biopsy, and all three came back with no cancer cells. But, some of the tissue was unknown, so they are recommending I just remove the whole bump to eliminate any possibility of cancer. The surgery is scheduled for next week. I will keep you posted.

Dogs are happiest when they are getting plenty of exercise and good food, just like people. When on the beach alone with my dogs, I say go play. That tells Bud the young one that he needs to find a willing person to throw the ball. Both Jetta and Bud are very skilled at finding willing people. They have stopped surfers, walkers by dropping the ball in their path. My dogs thank you wonderful folks for playing with them.

Every day I spend hours on the beach with my dogs. I am dog sitting a good friend, Jim's Lab Koda. Bud and Koda are the same age and I love when Jim is out of town having Koda in our pack. Bud is in love with Koda. They play all the time. The other day more friends join us, Doug and Harley. Carney had fun with the two young dogs. Jetta enjoyed the smells. When we come home every one gets a warm shower including me.
