Does Bud Have A Drinking Problem ?

I have been drinking Kefir for years because it's so good for my bones. I read about the benefits of Kefir and discovered that it works in your gut to bring the endorphins to your brain. And sends the message of well-being that you get like when you eat chocolate or work out hard.  When I open the refrig to get it,  the dogs hear me and come running in to get their fix for day.  Their tongues hanging out, like they are happy.  God forgive if I even run out of Kefir !!

Gracie Bath Day

Gracie gets so dirty playing in my yard. There is in my yard, trees, dirt, some weeds and some gravel on the ground that my yard guy has not moved for me for a very long time. Language barrier ? I think. Gracie rolls on the dirt and gravel. I have had a dog that gets so dirty. I am letting her hair long for warmth. Also the grooming  cost 50$ for a 15 lb dog. She loves being rubbed or brushed or bathed.
Dogs should be bathed once a month. Gracie need twice a mouth because she smells bad, Lab never smell bad this way.
LOOK AT SILLY DOG. BEFORE ENDING UP WITH ME, SHE CLOSE TO BEING PUT DOWN.

Bud Is Getting Older

I have been watching him ever since he was a pup. When dogs get older the owner has to alter their exercise. Bud is 9 now and he's looking tired. So he swims everyday now. But will change that to every other day. don't let him walk down the stairs at the beach. A walk in the evening for about two or three blocks.  I give a lot of fish oil with 3 and 6 fatty acids and I give him meds for his joints. We don't walk the beach stairs if he has swam. he gets to go to the beach and he thinks he is a pup. I keep his weight down. Better not forget the bones 3 times a week, or his baked yams, raw broccoli.
Tonight he looked tired so we only walked a few blocks. But in am he is a puppy again and I  love every day with him.

Gracie Tired?

Gracie is a very active dog by nature because she is Skye Terrir & Breaded Collie. Both breed are meant to work, they are able to run and run and run. Gracie is on prozax also to help mellow out. Each day I run her with my scotter for at least 30 minutes, she never gets tired until at the of her day she stays with me in the living room, Bud usually goes to his crate, until he the ref open when  I get my kefir and he gets to lick the cup and of course Gracie get a taste too.
The of the foto I thought was so cute  I
had to take her picture.

My Hero Bud

On September 12, 2016, at 4 a.m. I found myself in trouble.  Somehow I managed to get myself lodged between the toilet and the bathtub and I was stuck and I couldn't get up.  I had difficulty breathing.  As I struggled I said God I am not ready to meet you yet.  I realized that my caregiver would not be arriving until 8 a.m.  The more I struggled the more I became lodged.  I knew no one could hear me.  I kept my cool and did not panic.  I realized the severity of the situation and the fact that this could turn out really bad for me.  I managed to whisper to my service dog Bud to get the telephone.  He was sleeping in his crate in the next room.  In the next moment I felt his hairy chin put the phone into the palm of my hand.  He placed it gently in my hand so that I would not drop it.  I immediately called 911 and the firemen came within a few minutes and the paramedics followed.  The two firemen worked together to get me out of the terrible predicament I was in.  As all of this was going on my other dog, Gracie was checking everyone out and guarding the house.  I told everyone that Bud retrieved the phone for me.  I was also amazed because I had not practiced this with Bud since he was a puppy.  He knew I was in trouble and knew what to do! Bud slept with me the rest of the right.  My guardian angel, Bud, my hero!!!

Gracie Update

Gracie has been so good, she loves when we go on our scooter runs. She even helps me to get ready by putting her face and neck closer by putting her feet on my leg. What a change when I could not even put the colar on her. She trusts me now and that makes me feel good because loving an abused dog takes time and I am so blessed to have her in my life. I call her my rag-a-muffin. Yes little dogs need exercise too. Her breed of Sky Terrier and Bearded Collie are very driven breeds. She patrols the yard and is very much a serious guard dog.

My Love Sleepy After A Fun Day

When Bud plays, he goes all out rather, digging at the beach or swimming at the bay, he goes full out. He thinks he is still a puppy. I won't tell him otherwise.

Look At The Faces I Love

I am blessed with these dogs. Bud is the love of my life and now I see that Gracie is another love of my life. Bud came to me when he was 10 weeks old and Gracie had a very horrible time before she came to me. The first day I saw Bud I knew that he was my dog. Gracie gave me a rough 6 months until she won my heart. She bit me was stubborn and guarded. That first night when put her is her her name was Rickly Lee. The next week I changed her name to Gracie for amazing Grace, and she loved her new home and new life and she a DIFFERENT dog. She looks up to Bud as a big goof of a pack member. Bud likes to get near when I train her which every day and she works and he gets a free treat.
I told her that I would take of her and she was safe and that I would help to find a forever home. Each time she bit hard to break skin I told myself that I CAN NOT keep this dog. Over the months of getting her teeth fixed and her coat etc etc etc. I felt that if I could not exercise her that would tell me that she would be better off with a stronger pack leader. Because she would not let me put the leash to run her on my scooter. She now loves are scooter running. Every day we go on her long run and she loves running and working to run next to me because her 2 breeds are wanting to work, she sits in the yard on guard and walks whole lot I'm on.
I realize now that I once again love my 2 wonderful dogs. LOOK AT THESE FACES !

Who's In Charge

Gracie has become a happy dog. She is hard to read some times. I will see her look at me with confusion. The other night I startled her and she woke up out of a deep sleep ready to fight for her survival. I have sorry for her and I have given her too much freedom about sitting on the sofa, bed etc. I have changed the way of seeing her and training her to be more dominate. I tell her off when she gets on the furniture and I tell her go to your blanket. She is very stubborn but I don't back down.
I still have not tried to walk her because she is bad on the leash when she sees, a bike, another dog, stake board most everything. My shoulder injury has kept me from taking her on the scooter like Bud. Now I am planing baby steps. I will sit on my drive and and let her get excited and I will use food to distract her.. Bud say's mom I don't care just let her have my food. Bud loves it when his dog friends come to visit he is very polite. He lived with Jetta for his puppy hood. Dogs are pack animals.

My Black Beauty

Pack Fun

Bud and Gracie have formed a bond because the live in the same home. Gracie looks to Bud for comfort. On bone day they both get a bone and they take the bone where the work on it for hours. Bud is very much picky than she is about the bone at first he seems put- off by in raw blood. It takes him awhile to get into it. Gracie will work on the bone for hours for days.
Shown here playing at the beach Bud found a stick and Gracie is exploring on a long leash. She does not get to run free ever right because she can't handle the excitement  !

Sweater Day

It was a windy day today. Perfect time to put Gracies sweater on that my dear friend gave her. She loves it, she rocks it, she rolled. She ran in circles. She jumped on the furniture. I could barley get a scarf on Bud. He said, "Mom I am a Lab I don't need a scarf."
At times like this I think of when i first met her. She was so unhappy, miserable, growling and nipping. Grace is amazing Grace for the transformation before my eyes. I named her right. This poor little dog would have been put down, She hit the jackpot with me though. She is on medication and supplements.  And a lot of Love Love Love. Bud likes her too. He says she is good company.

Commucating With Our Dog Loves

I could not sleep last night so I got out of bed and headed to the kitchen to get a cold drink from the refrigerator. Gracie followed me to the food place. She knows that when I open the refrigerator that something good is going to come. Bud and Gracie know when the refrigerator door opens they usually get a treat. The sound wakes Bud up when he was in his crate in the office. I got yogurt too. The rule of the house is she gets to lick the spoon and he gets to lick the cup. I know I am silly, too bad. Gracie has come so far in a short time period. She falls asleep in my lap. She growled at me and wouldn't let me touch her. She has become a better watch dog than Bud. Serious watchdog. Beware of the little dog. Once you get to know her she is loving sweet and tender. it is a big front she puts up. I am glad I wore her down. She is at home here.
Bud loves training her because he knows there are treats. When I treat her he gets treats too.

Gracie Update

I have learned more about this mixed up little cutie and we have bonded well. Gracie had bad gums and has lost 6 teeth on her lower jaw. Poor thing I would be cranky too! Gracie has learned several commands and she has become quite the fierce guard dog while protecting her new home. I warn strangers beware of the little one not the big one. Gracie showed me why her behavior was bad enough to get her thrown out of house hold. Some person ( very dumb ) taught her to growl and show her teeth and bite people. Really that is too bad.
The very good news is that Gracie is now the loving dog that God created her for. When you give your dog rules, and love and discipline they are feeling secure and in their permanent home. several days ago I feel on my rump in the kitchen, I was tired and getting over a head cold. When I sat on the ground my girl, Gracie sat close right new to me and would not leave until I got up. What a good girl.
I love working with dogs and communicating with them that is what God made me for I am doing my passion and love how the love of dogs fills me with a with a light of divine grace. That is why I named her, Amazing Gracie. She is transforming before my eyes.
I have much more work to do with her. I still have teach leash manners because she has none. When sees a bike she goes NUTS. I always say, tomorrow is another day. I love my Amazing Grace. That you God for another dog who I get to help.

Gracie Goes to Coast Vets to see Dr. Stack-Aguirre

A week a go I took Gracie to the vet for a check up. Part of owning a dog, you have to find the money to pay the vet bills. I knew she was unhappy about something related to her mouth. I knew she was trying to tell me something. I brought the paperwork that someone had left with her at a ranch where she was abandoned. I know she was very uncomfortable in her body. The first week I got her I gave her a good bath. I treated her with Front-line for fleas. She was digging, digging, still. I thought the fleas were gone. But when the vet got a flea comb out he got fleas off of her. I freaked out. The vet explained to me that she was infested with them. She had so many fleas they couldn't kill all the fleas. They recommended internal medicine for the fleas and a shot of cortisone for the itching. She was so good for the vet I couldn't believe it. He told me she is five years old. Her problem is inflamed gums. He told me she lost six teeth on the bottom from neglect. He recommended getting her teeth cleaned professionally. Poor Gracie was trying to tell me something she had irritated gums
and being eaten by fleas. Since that day she has been a different dog. She is calm, happy and not digging herself nuts. She is more loving than Bud but we don't tell Bud this. Bud is my best boy.Dr Stack-Aguiire is a wonderful Vet. We love our Coast Vets.

Picky Bud

When Bud's at the bay swimming, sometimes he takes pee breaks. This picture shows you how picky Bud is on where he goes potty. Has to be the perfect spot to roll down the hill. It's hard for my helper to clean up after him though. He does this because he knows he's prince Bud.Smart dog.

Got Foam??

In my house the dogs get to help me clean the dishes. It is a ritual. It is a little funny but...
What I do, Every morning I have greek yogurt in the coffee cup. Is this pretty gross or what?
I do wash the dishes after this. It is worth it because they add so much to my life. It is a healthy yogurt. They enjoy it so much. Shown here is Gracie, after licking the spoon of the yogurt. She has yogurt on her mouth. Oh gosh-
I am an old lady with a little dog and big dog.

Surprise visit from Jewel and her little dogs, Batman and Robin. I haven't seen them for a while. It was awesome The dogs remembered me, of course, I am their god mother. Bud remembered them, Batman's best friend. Nice to have little dogs come to see us. With us today today my moms two dogs. This morning was a full house. I love the company of dogs always have. Good to see Jewel and her pups. Bud remembered her, she helped him through his surgery a long time ago. It was years ago, about six years.

stormy water for Bud

This day was horrible cold and miserable but Bud did not care. Labs are bred to be in cold water. The were bred in Newfoundland to swim in cold, cold water. Bud loves the sun, but he will swim in sun or rain, he does not care.

Getting to know Gracie

I'm the lucky one.
Recently, God blessed me with another dog, Gracie. She was little, lost and very scared. I gave her my word, to take care of her for the rest of her life.
It's going on two weeks now and I am so pleased to report that she is doing really well considering the hard time she must of gone through before I got her. This little dog was obviously starved most of her life, not to mention afraid of humans. This messaging has made her very confused and skittish around people.
We believe she is part "bearded collie", I see it mostly in her face. Having met a bearded collie once named Nash, I am reminded of him when I see Gracie run. Total herding instinct, with a delightful temperament. Easy to understand why she was misunderstood. Beaded collies are related old English sheepdogs.
Her name comes from, "Amazing Grace". Gracie is saving me; I've always had pets from birth, but this one is extra special and I will not leave or abandon her.
One of her issues is growling and barring her teeth at people. I tell her it's okay, but I realize it will take time for her to get over this behavior. She has bitten me, but softly, to let me know she is afraid. I am grateful to understand this about her behavior. I am no "dog psychic", but I understand dogs. When I pet her she relaxes and actually falls asleep in my lap.
Last week I forgot an important principal when going a dog a bone. I gave Gracie a bone for being a good girl and later found her guarding the bone and growling at my helper when she went to take it away. I forgot rule number 1, never give a starving dog a bone and then take it away. So, I gave her a small amount of food and took the bone away.

Hand-feeding a starving dog will enable them to trust you more and will not overeat to the point of getting sick. Gracie's food is measured in small portions three times a day for now and she is putting on healthy weight.

She was also full of hot spots so I changed her food to corn/wheat free, dog food made with chicken veggies and rice. I feed her three times a day and I add cut up apples to her kibbles as an extra treat. She lets me treat her runny eyes, feel her body, accepted flea treatment without a fuss. I can even bathe her without getting growled at.

Gracie is very smart and has learned 3 or 4 commands like: sit, down, go to your bed and boundary. I am working on recall next.
Most of the day now she is patrolling the yard looking for gophers. She seems happy and content. She goes in and out of the doggie dog with ease now.
My yellow lab Bud is her new found friend and they have bonded. Wherever Bud goes she's not far and will look for him if he goes into another room.
Bud likes Gracie being in training because he gets a treat too when she does well, (it wouldn't be fair to not treat him too), he knows he's getting a freebie. Bud is my best boy and he knows it!

More Update About Gracie

Shown here, the first picture is Gracie outside the doggy door, At first she was not happy with it because she forgot that Terriers are fearless and are dog that are breed to grab and kill rodents. She is doing well about following the rules of the house and last night she was invited to come up to lay in my lap. The rules so far have been no getting on the furniture and being hand fed by me and she has been easy to train. She is so smart, we are still working on recall. She has gone to the beach twice and today she got more freedom, she got to play with other dogs and she got to chase birds until she ran too far and did not hear me and then we were done. Bud dug some hole and was happy.
There is always more time for training every day!
