Jetta's Little Bump

Yesterday my vet performed surgery on Jetta. Jetta had a bump growing on her upper eye lid of all places! The vet clipped the little bump twice in his clinic while she was awake but the little bump kept growing back. Jetta also had some fatty tumors under an armpit that were getting bigger. Now she has a cone to keep her from bumping her eye or messing with her stitches. I know she doesn't like it but she's such a trooper! Never complains. She tried to get out through the doggie door but she couldn't w/the cone. I got her another bowl for water because she couldn't get her cone around the water bucket. We are taking her on small walks, but she misses the beach. When I get back from the beach with Bud, she gives me hell! Last night I was making my salad and turned my back to her, with a bag of chicken on the tables. I turned back and she was grabbing the bag of chicken, drooling with anticipation and all over the cone. Poor Jetta - only one more week of this. It's a blessing that she's healthy.

Visit To Cayucos Elemtary School

We loved doing school programs. We met two with different groups in the gym. I told the children about what service dogs do,and Bud showed how he picks up dropped items like a spoon, pen, glasses. He got his leash and phone for me. He showed them how he helps me stand up from the ground. Then we played a game of listening with Bud. This game is fun for everyone. Bud has to wait to get the ball until I say, "Release." I throw the ball and say "Stay." Bud watches the ball and is ready to run to get it. I say allot of words to trying to trick him. He waits and when I say the special word he gets the ball. The kids clap and laugh. Then Bud gives the ball back to kids and they join in the fun. I good time was had by all. One boy asked me my favorite time of day with my dogs. I said it in the early morning when we wake up. Bud comes to lick me in face then we all have our morning rubs. Jetta loves when I get on the floor and kiss her yowls and give her buttie rubs. Bud gets jealous and joins in cleaning her with the little love bites. It great sharing my love for dogs. All the kids raised their hand hand when asked if their dogs are in their pack. We love our dogs.

Jetta Meet Young Fans

A nice lady who I meet at my physical therapy loved Jetta's book so much she bought 15 books for X Mas gifts. Her two young grandsons wanted to meet the star of the book. We got together and all played at the beach. Bud kept the boys busy throwing the ball while Jetta enjoyed the yummy dog cookies that the woman brought with her. After returning home after the beach Bud showed off some of his helpful duties. Like getting the phone, picking up spoons, keys etc. Jetta watched and happily knowing that she gets a treat when Bud works. Bud says" Wait a minute, this doesn't feel fair that I work and she gets a treats for doing nothing!" Jetta says," Oh young Bud, retired service dogs have fabulous benefits your time will come soon enough. But for now my life is great. Old service dog get special treatment."
