Stroy Of A Stray --Lucy

Lucy has a sad past but her life is beautuful but she does have issues. I met her 3-4 years ago when a niegbor got her at my local dog and cat rescue. She was found in a field under a barn shelter with another dog. No one knows how long or if the dog was her pup. She was sweet and lovable, but She is a wanderer. If she sees an open gate, she takes a walk around the neigborhood. No good. Last week I took care of her for a week. I made sure than she had plently of exercise. The last hour of her visit, somehow my gate got left open and luckly I went oustside with Bud for his after dinner romp. Much to my shock i saw the gate open and NO Lucy !! Luckly she was down the street following a gal with her dog. When you love a stray it means that you have your life to help this stray have a good long Next week I am getting security power gate with a lock. I will have a buzzer and remote.I have been wanting this for awhile.Bud will never leave his yard but dogs will follow their nose.

Old Dog Need His Play And Rest

Bud wants to play all the time even when he is tired. As the pack leader I now that he is 13 have changes some of his routines. I take him very other day to the beach where he hopes down 2 filths of stairs, some day we go two days and not the 3rd day.I go by how frizby he asks. Never when it too hot. The heat drains him...me too. We are oldtimers! He use to run down them. Now I hope my breath while he goes down the steep steps. I yell at him." Be careful one step at time.......you got this! Whe he gets to the sand i yell' Your the man you are the best!" I throw an old black frrizbee so he sees it better. He is smiling the entire time. Check out his tounge out in the yard with the fribzbee that we play with after dinner every day. Then he is tired and happy.I know that a tired dog is a happy dog. LOVE THIS LAB!!

Bud is getting older and is struggling with 2 flights of stairs when he plays At the beach, the other day it was very warm when we went to the beach. I let Bud play 20 minutes, I should had him play for 10 minutes. On the way home saw how tired he was. My job is to make sure that doesn't happen again. Today I took him to swim in a warm dog pool. He loved it. I am now taking him on shorter walks and the beach less often. Bud loves swimming. Bud also loves playing in our yard with the frisbee. After 10 minutes he is so happy and tired. We do this 2 a day. For now the swimming will keep his hind legs strong.

Bud is still an active old dog.....................I know what to do to keep him moving as long as possible.

   ITS ALL ABOUT LOVE ! 

Buddy Loves Bath Time

It was a warm day and Buddy was due for his monthly bath. Tawnya got the honor.....watch the video how much Bud enjoys being pampered. Tawnya has her heart stolen by Buddy. She can't help Bud is a lover boy!

Bud Loves His Afternoon Play Time

Dogs love routine, every morning Bud goes to the beach for his playtime. Bud waits for this special time. I no longer want Bud to carry his stick or ball in his mouth. He hesitates on the steep beach stairs. So my job is to make it easier for him. So i carry a big ball in my fanny pack. Once he is on the sand he gets to play.. He digs,digs digs and after 10 or 15 minute he wants me to throw the ball. We do this at least 10 minutes. My throws go no more than 8 ft . Perfect for old Bud. My old arm gets sore if I throw longer!
Then I let him rest for a bit the we walk up the stairs. Some times, I give him a little treat. When he climbs the stairs, I give him a drink of water. He likes to take his time sniffing ever plant down the path to the street.
When we get home, Bud lays in the sun or come in house and sleeps. After dinner when get on my inside scotter he is ready for more play. He gets so happy, I love making him so happy. Look at that face waiting for the ball.
I am the lucky one, Blessed with this boy.

My friend's dog spent time here. Bud is so patient with. She is a sweet dog and Bud is used to pushy females. Just look at the video and smile. Lucy have been doing this same pestering for affection for 3 year! She has even gone is his crate while he is sleeping and she still is alive!! Good Bud.
